Exposure assessment
Chlorination has been the major disinfectant process of municipal drinking water in many countries for many years despite the availability of alternative disinfectants such as ozone, chlorine dioxide and chloramines. When organic or inorganic precursors are present in the water, disinfection by-products (DBPs) are produced. DBPs will be measured (in WP1) and modelled (in WP2). We aim to identify the determinants of certain DBPs and develop predictive models in order to be able to provide improved exposure estimates for the epidemiological and risk assessment studies.
